Divorce, also called dissolution, is a legal proceeding initiated by couples who want to legally terminate their marital unions. The Family Law & Support Division of the San Joaquin County Superior Court handles divorce matters at the Stockton Courthouse, and the files resulting from these cases are kept by the Clerk of Court's Records Management Office. This office releases records following California Rules of Court (Rule 2.500 et seq.) upon requests made online, by mail, or in person by members of the public. The Superior Court also provides an online Case Management Search portal for remote public searches.
